Passwords are the weakest link in cyber security

“A closer examination of major breaches reveals a common theme: In every “major headline” breach, the attack vector has been the common password.”. A whole industry of the user authentication  has grown around the broken concept – re-useable credentials.
Present user authentication or transaction confirmation technologies still use passwords or other reusable credentials, like in case of password managers providing Single Sign On capability for users.  This makes life a little bit easier for users but creates a single point of failure of the system and makes life  much easier for hackers: just one password they need to steal to gain access to all our accounts. This is also a reason why password managers such as Lastpass, Onelogin and others were hacked so many times. Systems based on biometrics are also vulnerable. A leakage of biometric data  (as it happened with over 5 million biometric records of Office of Personal Management in 2015) and users will not be able to use them for the rest of their lives. It is also very easy to spoof biometric technologies that are promoted as fully secure.
